Bad boy rocker? Check. Tattoos? Check. ...Well then, it's a given that Courtney and I are gonna read it.
1. Riff. Zach. Riff is the sexy, sexual, bad ass rocker. He hands out golden tickets to groupies for a night of sex with him. He sexes them and leaves them, moves on to the next show and repeats the same performance. As a matter of fact, this is exactly what he had in mind when he sees Aubrey. She shuns him and it's game on. He loves the pursuit and challenge of her and even though he hasn't had to chase a woman in ages, he decides to chase her. When Riff finally gets to know her and has the opportunity to spend the night with her, the tough exterior of Riff transitions into Zach. The man who eventually captures Aubrey's heart. He tries hard to impress her and be good to her and while he does have a few dickish moves along the way, he turns out to be pretty swoonworthy.--just a wall to protect himself. he calls her kitten. omg. how cute is that? dick move towards the end but then he totally makes up for it.
2. Aubrey. She's been known to dabble in the land of the bad boys and decides that after a fling with Riff, she's gonna try to change her ways. Despite her best attempts to talk herself into walking away from Zach after her weekend fling, she cannot remove him from her mind. She tries, though. She almost convinces herself that her cute, but boring, boss is just the fix for all bad boys everywhere.Alas, he is not. How's that lyric go? Every rose has its thorns....well this relationship with Zach does too, but they aren't sharp enough to remove the bloom of the new relationship and Aubrey finally gives in to it.
3. Kitten. He calls her kitten. I don't know why I think it's adorable, but I do. The idea of this tattooed, mohawked rocker calling his girl 'kitten' just makes my heart squeeze a little. Yet another reason why I find him swoonalicious.
This was a fun addition to this series. I hope that Michelle Valentine continues to reveal more of the story of Riff and his dad and Zach and Aubrey before she moves on to the other band members...I'm still so curious about these stories.

The set up for this is definitely up our alley, and the fact that I loved Noel Falcon and Michelle's writing had me wanting to read this even though Riff was a little Ruff around the edges in Rock the Heart.
1) Riff. Holy smokes. I dig the look and the attitude, but when we first met him in the first book, and when Aubrey first meets him, I was with everyone else with my jaw on the floor. How he talks to women, and that whole golden ticket thing, just wow! But if I'm honest, if in my yesteryears (hah, like it's been that long, but I've been with my hubs for almost 10 years, so ya know) a guy came up and kissed me senseless it might not have mattered what BS was spewing out of his mouth. Riff became my favorite when we met him as Zach. Zach has so much pent up anger and sadness, that I started to love him mid-way. He's had 10+ years to think about it and feel hate from his father that he doesn't believe he is worth of giving or receiving love. Hence his non-conventional yet effective way to get women. Women out there who REALLY do behave this way, shame on you..gross! I wish self respect was something everyone was born with!
2) So Aubrey. I really liked how good of a friend she was to Lanie in book 1, and it was interesting to get a look at her thought during all of the events of Rock the Heart. It feels like such an extension of that book and since we know part of what was going on it was cool. She surprised me with how many times she took chances on Riff. Her internal battle of why she should stay away from him were pretty good reasons, especially when he proved her right...every. single. time. But, she didn't listen. The things he does...well...it would take a strroonnnnggg woman to put up with that. I about had a heart attack a couple of times. Eek! Stressful.
3) Kitten. I love nicknames, and while I would think it cheesy if somebody called me that...that way the two of them were together it totally worked. See...he did have at least ONE redeeming quality in the first 25% or so! :D
I also really like this series, and will read anything that Michelle puts out! I really, really hope that Tyke and Trip are on the to be written list!
