REVIEW:
Logan Patricks picks up almost exactly where we ended in Semblance...in the immediate aftermath of the murder of almost all of the Midnight Society. Things are tense: Shadow's not handling it well and shutting everyone (including Aria) out, Aria and Lincoln are feeling enormous guilt over the murders of friends, and Calisto is still out there, apparently walking free while they are all in hiding.
This novel is filled with action (haha and not just the sexy stuff, although that's there too), we get a little more back story on the Midnight Society, and several new characters are introduced. I have a sneaking suspicion that these characters will become important in the third installment of this series...if the ending is any clue to the intrigue going on.
Do we get more of Shadow + Aria? Of course. They're not exactly as chummy as they were in Semblance...and it's definitely complicated...and that's all I'll say.
What about Lincoln? Poor Lincoln. <---you'll see ...you'll get an eye-full, too.
Calisto? Sinister. Wily. Awful.
Assassins? Of course!
..and much, much more. The humor is still there, traveling to different places, and music also tends to tinge almost every chapter; all things we enjoyed so much in the first book.
Will you want to perhaps fuss at Logan Patricks for some of the ways he tortures his characters (and so..basically, us)? Ummm yeah. And once again he leaves us with a very interesting ending. LOGAN YOU ARE KILLING US!!!
Happy reading, y'all. Can't wait to hear what you think about it!
A BRIEF INTERVIEW WITH LOGAN PATRICKS:
For those who don't follow you on
twitter/fb/ or you blog, could you please tell us/them
your plans for
this series?
At the moment I have the
series planned for 4 books, though who knows?
I might pull
a George RR Martin and expand it if I find I have too much story
to tell.
Right now I'm
plotting out book 3, and let me tell you, poop is seriously going
to hit the fan.
Is there any scene in either of
the books that you'd like to inhabit..to physically be there to see
the action
or be a part of the action?
Actually, a lot of the
scenes I write in books are drawn from my own personal experiences
(aside from all the
crazy action, violence and twisted mindf*cks). All the parts of the
books
I'd want to
experience, I've done it already =D.
Does you ever consult your wife on
scenes that you're writing? Or book covers?
Or
images that you use on FB?
Nope, I always leave
everything as a big surprise in the end. Usually when I'm working,
I've super secretive,
and it's not until something's completely finished that I show it off.
What's surprised you
(or has anything surprised you) about the response to Semblance?
How amazing all my readers are! My community of readers are such a supportive one, even going
so far as to create
a fanpage dedicated to the Midnight Society series (Thanks
ladies!).
I couldn't ask for
better readers.
Do the characters
and scenes come to you in images, music, lines of text or are you a
planner..
and you plan
everything out? All of the above? None of the above?
I have plan, and half
write scenes spontaneously. Usually I have 3 chapters planned out at a
given time
along with how I want
the book to end. The dialogue, action, descriptions are all written
spontaneously.
Has your writing process changed
at all from Semblance to Penumbra..has it come as
easily as the first one?
My writing process
remains the same, but my editing process has drastically changed.
Whereas I used to print
out the entire manuscript and edit it with a red pen, and then retype it
all over again,
now I just do all my
editing in my word document. Saves me a lot of time!
Is there a question you've always
wanted to be asked...and if so, what is it and what's
your answer?
-Would you like 1 billion
dollars, no strings attached?
- Why yes, I would.
Any questions for your readers?
What are you wearing
right now?
Finish this thought...when you hit
"publish" you feel....
Like thrusting my hips
with the energy of a Tazmanian Devil.
...and finally, can you share one
new thing with your readers that they wouldn't
already know from reading your
blog or any of your social media?
Hmmm...the name of the
third book in the Midnight Society series begins with the
letter "R".

Logan discovered both love and heartbreak at the tender age of seven, when the pretty little blue-eyed girl next door stole his Kit-Kat bar and shared it with the bad boy from across the street. Devastated, Logan found solace by escaping into imaginary worlds he forged with words, creating kingdoms where the chivalrous knight always got the princess. Twenty three years later Logan spends his days in a suit and tie, working for the government on matters of network security. However his thoughts never strayed too far from the incendiary nature of love — the passionate fire that’s both scintillating and dangerous. Obsessed with exploring the steamy and mysterious side of human nature, Logan continues to create worlds filled with thrills, mystery, and of course, sex.
