Revealing Us:
You've discovered Rebecca's secrets. You've discovered Sara's secrets. Now Sara will discover "his" deepest, darkest secrets...but will those secrets bind them together--or tear them apart?
OUR REVIEW:
I wasn't really sure what to expect in this third novel in the Inside Out series but I should've known it would be a roller coaster ride of emotions and it was. As you can see from the brief synopsis, this novel focuses on Chris Merit's big secrets..and whether the thing he's worried will break them for good. And throw in Paris for good measure. We're going where his secrets occurred...and leaving the familiar ground of San Francisco and those players, so I was waiting for the new ones we were sure to encounter.
HALT! Before you go any further..if you haven't read books 1 and 2 in this series...do that before you even read further! Haha.
..where was I? Oh yeah..roller coaster. Yeah..emotional tennis match? check. Lots of intrigue? yep. New characters that I loved to hate? Oh HELL YEAH. Answers to the secrets? FINALLY, yes! DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG we have to wait for those ANSWERS! A LONG TIME! But the wait is so deliciously satisfying...that the book was over before I even knew what hit me!
In book two, Being Me, Sara is very torn at the end. She had to make a decision about her relationship with Chris and if she wanted to go to Paris. Obviously, she goes...because there's a story to tell. Once she and Chris get to Paris I felt like I was constantly waiting for bad shit to happen...and there seemed to be constant potential for bad shit to happen. Between the secret that Chris was holding on to and ghosts from his past, Sara trying to get to the bottom of Ella's disappearance, and the shitstorm they left behind with Ava, I felt like I was always reading the next page for more drama or trauma. Add to all of that Sara and Chris both having lingering insecurities about each other and GAH. Every time I felt like I caught my breath and things were settling down, someone or something would wreak havoc.
There is still so much story, like Shel said, and this whole smorgasboard of stuff going on external to Chris and Sara's problems....which unfortunately seemed to be many as we went on and on. They have the secrets between them, the secrets they know of Rebecca and what happened, or may have, happened to her...Ava, being well, the cunt we know her to be...Mark? Where the eff is Mark? And new people in Chantel, Rey (Love them) and Amber, Tristan and Isabel (not so much love for these people!) I feel sometimes like I should have my own journal for my predictions, feelings, and keeping track of how everyone is connected...because they just about ALL are somehow! It brings a little somethin' somethin' to how much I love this series!

The ending did provide answers, thank goodness, but I definitely see how there is so much more story to tell. The new characters we began to get to know, in addition to the stories from the first two books still left to be wrapped up, mean we will have more to this series..which I think is a good thing. I'll admit that out of all the books I've read so far in this series, this one didn't feel as in depth as the others. Yes, there was a lot of plot and action and things happening but I felt like the emotional whiplash overpowered a lot of the other things and I never felt settled in to the read. I still enjoyed it..I guess I just wish it that maybe we had more ...more words, more depth, more development..and obviously with THAT epilogue, I absolutely have to know where this story will go next.
The emotional parts were seriously a lot heavier than we have had before...and I think I noticed this the most as I finished The Master Undone the other day. As we get more of these mysterious alpha men, and what makes them tick...we're definitely getting into the heavy stuff. I for one am very excited about what is to come simply because we're going to get more and more (a lot more!) of Chris and Marks point of view. The series is picking up steam, and I cannot wait to see what happens next! The extra mystery of Ella and Rebecca is killing me!!! I have to know what happened to these women! NOW! ;)
