OUR REVIEW:
Shel: I've written and deleted the beginning of this review quite a few times because I can't quite seem to capture exactly what I was thinking as I was reading. I thought I knew what to expect; I'd read the other two books in this series and I knew that Bear was not in a good place at the end of the previous book... so I went into the reading pretty smug, probably a little like this:
Court: I would tend to agree. I thought he wasn't in a good place too, but then thought that we would be highly likely to really work on getting into the nitty gritty of how he is really doing after what happened to him in Tyrant and I knew that we would be in for a WILD ride!
Shel: For the first few of Bear's pages my reaction was warranted..but then? THEN Thia happened and my first thought was...
Court: Right? What a fucking way to meet this biker that we know and love...and then...whoa! The age difference was a surprise, but then...my wicked little heart melted for Thia and how she interacted with the big bad biker.
Shel: I was also NOT PREPARED for her opening scene on her farm. And then she went to see Bear and my reaction went from surprise to ...
to complete horror and concern. As much as I wasn't prepared for the farm scene I was even less prepared for what happened next. GAHHHHHH. I had a moment when I thought I may not be able to continue--so let me warn you, if you are prone to be triggered in dark romance, this might be a triggering novel for you--I was able to continue and then I was unable to put it down. I know some people probably don't get the relationships in this series; I imagine there's a lot of this for some readers: Court: Yeah. That face I may've made a few times. I realize that love is not something that ever makes sense...and just sticking around when people continue to make off color decisions...but Thia's situation is one of the highest extreme. And in this series with extremes being the norm...welllllll, I was still surprised by what T. M. Frazier delivered to us...and it was truly the bomb. BUT...keep in mind that a trigger warning does mean something, so tread lightly.
Shel: I get it-- I found myself questioning some things and yet I pushed on. Actually that's inaccurate; I inhaled it. I had to see how in the heck Frazier was going to resolve this (it didn't occur to me that this wasn't going to end in one book!--it doesn't, btw) and how she was going to forge a relationship between Bear and Thia. It's probably needless to say but I'll say it anyway--she created two characters who were a perfect match for each other, despite some seemingly huge obstacles, they actually work as a couple. Court: I didn't know it either! And I am no longer surprised or sad by cliff hangers...I choose these days to find them fun! But...wow. Just wow. That ending. And all of the pages before it...I can't even describe how wild and crazy every scene is in one way or another. It is balls to the wall pacing, and it works for this series so well...but makes it difficult to move on after it!
Shel: The stuff involving Bear and Thia is crazy and intense so having Preppy and Ray and King and Grace make appearances definitely cut the tension and lulled me into a sense of security (when I wasn't trying to throat punch Bear for his dumb-asssery). And just as I was entering the end, Frazier shocked the hell out of me by the ending and the sneak peek of what's to come. Court: Damn. Damn. Damn. Haha. I am ever so glad that the next installment isn't far away, but I do like the bromance that Bear and King have going, and how ride or die Ray is. Shit, these people wouldn't know what to do with some peace, and I love it. Lawless is exactly what it's name implies, and we can't get enough of it.
Shel: I am not a huge fan of wishing my life away but the February release of book two really cannot come quickly enough. Court: Ditto.

Thia is prim and proper.
Bear is leather and lawless.
It will never work between them.
It's a lie they almost believe.

Excerpt
“Ti, how old are you?” I asked, clearing my throat as I ventured into territory I knew I shouldn’t. She was a pistol, even if she was a sad one, but there was a wave of innocence about her that had me both feeling bad for her and salivating for a taste of her.
This is for her, not you. I told myself. It was only a partial lie.
“Seventeen,” She said, sniffling. “Eighteen soon.”
“You ever been kissed?” I asked, her eyes met mine. “And not a peck on the cheek or a brief smack of the lips, but a real fucking kiss? One that leaves you without air in you lungs and your thighs pressing together in search of more?” I said, my voice coming out deep and strained. My cock coming alive at the thought of tracing my tongue along her pump lips.
“Why?” She whispered, and as soon as the words left her mouth I knew there would be no coming back from what I was about to do.
I pushed off the fire pit and pulled her up off the chair, pressing her tits into my chest and my straining cock against her stomach. I tipped her chin up and looked into her confused emerald greens. She followed my thumb with her eyes as I traced her bottom lip. There were too many lines marring her face, questioning what it was I was up to. I knew she would try to pull away at any second, try to stop me. But it was too late for that.
I was beyond stopping.
Just one taste.
“Answer the question,” I pressed.
“No,” she said with a slight shake of her head, and before she could try to argue, I leaned down and pressed my lips to hers.
I was already going to hell.
Might as well enjoy the ride there.
The finale to Bear and Thia's epic love story.
