When I think about books that have made me emotional, I have a few that I always recommend.
The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay. It's older YA and I loved it. It's one of the few books I've re-read and it always holds up for me.
Mud Vein by Tarryn Fisher. This was the first thing I read of hers and I instantly fell in love with her writing. This one was heartwrenching on almost every page. It's thoughtful and requires your attention--not one I'd speed through.
God Shaped Hole by Tiffanie DeBartolo. *SOB* god, I loved this book. The protagonist is the most beautiful mess ever. The novel is quirky and wonderful and I can't wait to read it again.
Firsts by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn. I recently read this and I can't stop thinking about it. It's YA and so unlike any other YA book I've read. I wish I'd had this novel in high school--I think it would've been invaluable to me to read her characters.
