~OUR REVIEW~
Shel: This novel was one of those novels that you start and think you'll read a few chapters before bed and the next thing you know you can't believe it's the middle of the night and you know you should put it down because you have to function the next day butttttttttt you find yourself one more chaptering it for hours more. It's one of those novels you that you finish and stalk the author because you want to know what else is out there. It's one of those novels that you hope lasts longer than it will and you like it so much that you hate that it has to end. Anything But Minor has such a great blend of things --
~OUR REVIEW~
Shel: Anything But Minor has got to be one of the funniest things I've read in a while--as a matter of fact I think I shook the bed while trying to conceal my laughter as my husband was sleeping late last night. The things that Alice does and says were freaking hilarious and I can see why Rafe fell in love with her because I certainly did. Court: Agreed. She's the most awkward but loveable and honest character that we've had all while being hilarious. She decided something, and jumped in with both feet...bound and determined to live life to the fullest. We could all stand to learn a thing or two from her, I think!

- Alice is so wonderfully nerdy and has absolutely no filter and Rafe is kind and delightfully smitten by her and for two characters who wouldn't seem to work, they totally do.
- The way that Alice views the world --her 'firsts' and her good days and her movies and music--and the way that Rafe not only likes these things about her he encourages it, is swoony.
- The way they handle the rough spots and the hard parts of their relationship are refreshing.
- The dialogue is funny as hell and written with a light touch--I never felt like it was trying too hard.
- The pacing and the angsty bits and the chapter titles and their chemistry and gahhhh just all of it. ALL OF IT WORKED.
Court: Be still your 80's movie loving heart, right? Gah. How we happen to find books that we relate to on so many levels is ironic, yet refreshing. I loved the cover of this book, straight away, and Shelley and I laughed at how many sports romances we'd read recently! We can add another hit, literally, to the list because this one is delightful. The writing is spot on, and there were only a few scenes for me that were jarring as the chapter or point of view changed. It wasn't too disruptive, and didn't take away from the enjoyment of the story but it registered, if that makes sense. Then Alice was off to the next shenanigan and you'll be hopefully laughing again.
Shel: Kate Stewart, if I read your acknowledgements correctly this is the first time you've written a book like this and all I can say is WRITE MORE OF THEM. I loved it and will be recommending this one-- and I feel like we're going to need another one soon! (Maybe Andy or Kristina--OR BOTH--should have books!!). Court: Agree. There is so much left unresolved with those two characters who had such a big part of our MC's life. Especially Andy! I loved how he and Rafe were typical men who fought it out, said what was on their mind, and remained friends when it was all said and done!
“She’s a nerd.”
“Heyyyy!”
“Okay, she’s a flight instructor.”
“Better.”
“He’s a ballplayer.”
“The best that ever was.”
“Technically, you aren’t according to MLB stats.”
“See? Total nerd. She also has no filter.”
“He’s no southern gentlemen.”
“I had one last season to prove my worth.”
“I’d never seen a game.”
“He told me he was a player.”
“She told me she was a lesbian.”
“But you fell in love with me anyway.”
“Yeah, baby, I totally did.”
