OUR REVIEW:
I will never underestimate CD Reiss; I know going into any of her novels to expect the unexpected. Yet even knowing that, she gets me every time. I always end up with a racing heart, a need to take a breather for self preservation, and an even more driving need to power through the angsty bits to see what the hell is going to happen with the characters. And while I knew, in this particular case, what was happening or had happened to quite a few of the characters, I had no idea what was going to happen with Margie. All I knew was that I felt an intense amount of foreboding and melancholy as the plot continued to quicken its pace—emotions that couldn’t quite be soothed even when things seemed to be looking up (with good reason, since Reiss always saves a few gut punches for that last 15-20%).

For those who haven’t read any of the Drazen books, you’ll find this duet to be interesting and entertaining (and you’ll probably want to go back and read them all—trust me, you will. Even with some plot points revealed here there are so many things you don’t know yet). For those of you who have read them, you’ll bring an added depth of understanding to what’s happening—and even though you know some things, there are many things you will discover along the way.

Coming back to the crazy Drazen clan has been ...interesting and intense and reminds me of those early days of Reiss reading, when I didn’t know how maniacal she can be to her characters. And now, of course, I cannot wait to see what she does with the remaining Drazens.

You know what they say about family.
Blood is thicker than water.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
A house divided cannot stand.
Margie is the keeper of her family’s secrets.
Six sisters and one brother.
Billions in assets.
Generations of malfeasance.
And one heartbreaking secret kept by three people.
Margie.
Her father, Declan.
And Drew—the man she loves.
You know what they say about secrets.
Three can keep them if two are Drazens.
There's never been a Drazen who went down without a fight. And there's never been one who didn't fight for love.

About CD Reiss
CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets. Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels. She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood. If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine. _21A6258_pp-fb.jpg
