REVIEW: Shattered Truths by H. Hunting

OUR REVIEW:

Has Helena Hunting ever missed because I don't think she has. As soon as I pick up one of her novels I remember how much I enjoy her stories and I zoom through it, and immediately go to her backlist to see what else I can read.

In the case of Shattered Truths, we get the story of BJ and Winter. People who've read the series will recognize him, so Winter's our unknown. As we get to know her, and love her, we quickly understand that her living situation is less than ideal; she's done everything she can to make the best of it, but there's little more she can do to better things, unless she leaves...something she's hesitant to do. Enter BJ. They meet through an accident and he becomes immediately enamored with her. As the summer days progress and they spend more and more time together, it's evident that they're in love with each other, and thankfully, they can actually act on it. The obstacles are knocked down, one by one, either because of Winter's persistence, his, or their family's. Thank god. Really the angsty bits don't come from within, they come from outside--and even those are things that can be overcome.

Shattered Truths was a thoroughly entertaining and engaging read and I look forward to reading more of her recent releases that I haven't read yet.

SYNOPSIS:

The first time I met Winter Marks, I almost took her out with my Jeep. To be fair, she came out of nowhere. I flirted with her, and she flipped me off and disappeared into the woods on her bike. But she left me a a single hockey skate. Seemed to me that divine intervention shouldn’t be ignored. She was my icy Cinderella and I would be her Prince Not-So-Charming. Winter was more than just a sassy, badass hockey-playing hottie. She’s stuck in a prison of a life. And I’m the perfect escape. Neither of us expected to fall. Or for the truth to shatter us. *Shattered Truths is an angsty, spicy, standalone new adult romance.
